This week in the Funny Experiments class we did an engineering experiment. We wanted to test which paper column shape would hold up the most books. First we gathered our materials- paper, scissors, tape, and books. Then we made 4 different paper column shapes including circle, square, rectangle, and diamond. The prediction was that the square column would hold the most books but we soon found out that we were wrong. We discovered that the circle column was the strongest out of the four. We then talked about how buildings use circular columns as extra support because they are stronger than other shapes.
